Mr. Lonely [Aug. 27th, 2007|12:35 am]

Being lonely will lead you to do crazy things.

Recently, some old friends have popped up on various blogs and my heart skipped a beat because for a split second I thought "maybe I could get together with X". Bad idea. Out of all the girls I'm interested in, I think that only one cares. I know that there is someone out there that cares about me that I secretly think still has a bit of a crush on me but we've become good friends and that's how it's going to stay. I'm a fish and she's a bird; where would we two live?

Work
So this week has been one hell of a week. One of my coworkers who's been at the company for over five years said that Wednesday was the heaviest call volume that he'd ever seen. It's been nothing but tension, tension, tension at work. Bleh! For whatever reason, Friday was a lite day but I've got this foreboding feeling that this week will be just as tense.

Part-time job
The part-time delivery job has been nuts. I think that the one that I used to call the "little bitch manager" may have taken a bit of a liking to me. Maybe we've just opened up a bit to each other. I have no intention to go down that road, but it'd be interesting to see how that would play out.

Someone got bitchy because they were driving slower then two turtles fucking in an area where not another car was on the road nor anyone out in their yards and decided to call back to the store and complain. Personally, I think that people that drive that slow in traffic don't do it because they are concerned for anyone's safety or wellbeing, I think they do it because it's just another way to control and they think they can get away with it under the pretense of being a law abiding citizen that cares about safety. Fucking whores!

To top it all off, I got a ticket last night. I won't go into the details because it won't make sense unless you know the patch of road, but the cop tried to say that I was guilty of reckless driving because I:

• failed to stop at a red light (I made a right hand turn but apparently rolled through the light)

• pulled out in front of someone (this did not occur)

• cut across three lanes of traffic (I turned into the right hand lane. I had 100 feet to cross the left hand lane into the left hand turning signal)

• turned without using a turn signal (which is optional, not mandatory)

• speeding on the road I turned on (occurred, but I was on the road alone)

I wound up with a ticket for turning without signaling but have a feeling he won't turn it in. It never fails. It seems like I always get a ticket in the early fall.

Of course, the most fucked up thing about all of this is the fact that Alabama just put 200 more Troopers on the road to "Take back Alabama roads" with a zero tolerance policy. Horseshit! They put 200 more cops on the road to harass otherwise law abiding citizens that are trying to get around to make a living. Someone should sue the State in a class action lawsuit. What this is really about is getting a pay raise since we here in Alabama will not vote for a tax increase and the bureaucrats won't cut the fat. When I become President I propose to urge Congress to do the following:

• eliminate speed related traffic laws on the basis that they are un-Constitutional because they impose on personal freedom, are only used to make money for the local municipalities, and (to a point) the faster a vehicle travels, the easier it is to maneuver. In fact, the driver's manual specifically says that you should speed up when going around a curve because you will have better control of the vehicle should you have to perform evasive actions.

• eliminate abortion clinics that are unsafe for women and have questionable record keeping practices by mandating that such operations can only be performed at a hospital by a certified OBYGN.

• term limits for Congress.

• have Senators be elected by the House of Representatives and have the House elected every four years such that their election would fall in the middle of the President's term.

• make the process to impeach and ultimately remove from office elected representatives that citizens grievances with much less cumbersome.

• eliminate Social Security.

• make all retirement plans tax free both when putting the money in and when taking it out.

• eliminate any so-called "sin tax" as they un-Constitutionally and unfairly punish entrepreneurs based on their trade as well as the consumer of those goods and services.

• implement the fair tax.

I'll stop here for the night. Next entry will be The Plans, Hopes and Dreams of a Upcoming Filmmaker.

As near to the surface as you both could be.
Cute.

Go watch The 40-year-old Virgin again, then consider her as a fuck-buddy. It could all work out famously after that.
That's kinda what I thought would happen, but she's not biting. Apparently it's a joke gone bad instead of being nurtured just right. You know I only have a sledge hammer. That's why I always seem to crush any chance of any action (sexual or otherwise) occurring between me and any homosapien female.

Only a fucking moron doesn't use a turn signal. You deserve this ticket for this offense alone.
First of all, you don't know the stretch of road in question. Secondly, you've proudly flaunted the fact that you break traffic laws. I will not consider anything you have to say about my driving until you become a law abiding citizen or get the justice you deserve.

Good luck with that.
I don't even get moral support?

Cute.
It wasn't meant to be cute, it was meant as an honest answer to your question. One which couldn't be disputed.

You know I only have a sledge hammer.
You'll whittle away the mass of that sledgehammer the more you use it until you're left holding a tool more suitable for the purpose. That's why we mature with experience and age.

Secondly, you've proudly flaunted the fact that you break traffic laws.
I speed - yes; but I ALWAYS use my turn signal. Speeding isn't ignorant. Not using your turn signal is.

Horseshit! You meant for it to be accurate as well as cute and I'm sure you were well pleased when you wrote the line.

Good point.

Ignorant means lack of knowledge. How is not using a turn signal a lack of knowledge for me?

I was. Mostly because how simple the answer seemed to me.

How is not using a turn signal a lack of knowledge for me?
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training.

I'm afraid I have to back schpydurx this time. What dimension have I slipped into...

Knowing how to signal and not signaling is similar to knowing the speed limit and not going it. Which one is lack of knowledge. Speeding CAN BE ignorant(Note I usually am over the speed limit) and not signaling MAY NOT BE ignorant, especially when no one is even near(Note: I still almost always signal without fail).

Thank you for your understanding. How is it that Howton has such intelligent friends and yet himself is so obtuse?

Not signaling - for whatever reason, is retarded. You might get a ticket, for example. Oh nos!

I find that when I drive slightly above the speed limit, I'm less susceptible to anyone sneaking up into my blind spot. I check all my mirrors with an obsessive frequency, but that blind spot can be a real bear. When I drive slightly above the speed limit I can drive more strategically and rely less on tactical prowess - I always know what moves I'm going to have to allow for ahead of time.

A turn signal is not one of them.

And I always use my turn signal. To not use your turn signal above all, is rude. Outside of that, I stand by my assertion that its ignorant to drive under the assumption that you don't need to signal your intentions.

Sounds like you and I have similar driving habits.

Not using a signal doesn't mean lack of knowledge, but it definitely shows lack of wisdom, and we all know which one is better to have.

I thought you knew that a long time ago. Maybe I just wasn't as flagrant about my driving style on my blog as you have been.

Signaling even when no one is near is absolutely essential for several reasons.

  1. It keeps you in the habit. This is especially important to younger drives (such as dear Tomas) for whom its not an automatic part of driving yet.

  2. You don't always know when no one is near. Let's revisit the scenario Tomas gave us: There was no one around, so he didn't use his turn signal - OOPS! There's a cop he didn't see!

I've been on the road for most of the seven years that I've been driving. In fact, I've been employed to drive for over two years. Age has nothing to do with it. I can drive steadier then most idiots out there. You would know this if you had ridden with, which is one of the many activities on the agenda for when I arrive in Texas.
