Progress Report [Jan. 20th, 2010|10:46 am]

I didn't post my thoughts on Scott Brown because the results of last night's election widened the story by a large margin. Also, the celebrity post I alluded to isn't going to make it this week. It's definitely something that needs to be done on a Wednesday morning, so we'll see about getting it up next week.

There's a quick post to follow this one and if time allows, a longer post sometime this evening. Thank you for your patience concerning this issue.

Progress Report

The Scott Brown result definitely changes the tenor of the debate, that's for sure. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I think that at the very least we'll be seeing the Senate bill passed unamended.

For the Democrats, it'll be a case of any bill is better than no bill at all.

Also, I wouldn't read too much into this result - Croakly ran an appallingly poor campaign which resulted in obviously few Democrats getting out to vote.

Re: Progress Report

Indeed. The Scott election analysis and how it relates to AL 5 is what I want to post about tonight.

We need to get you an avatar. Should I make one of the maidservant and the queen?

Re: Progress Report

Croakly ran an appallingly poor campaign...

I've got a source at ground zero and that's exactly what he said. This was followed by the quote, "Why should I stand in the cold shaking hands?"

Interesting? Yes. Is the news reporting spin? Most assuredly. What really happened? We may never know.

Re: Progress Report

Yes, those things were said and goes to prove that Democrats in the area think that they are an elite, privileged, erudite ruling class that passes power from heir to heir. The fact is Coakley ran her campaign in this manner and lost big.

The other thing to take away from this is the temperature of the voters of Massachusetts is but a microcosm of the voters of the county and come November there will be more bad news for Barry and his ilk.

Please note that I have post-election analysis I want to run and tie to AL 5.

This is not fact. Please be cautious for while you may very well be right, you may also be wrong. It would be best to precede statements like that with, "Its my opinion that..."

Re: Progress Report

...

I can tell you that I have it on good authority that Crist is considering dropping out of the race against Rubio and that AL 5 currently has no Democrat contender.

Re: Progress Report

Exactly! "Good authority" is not fact, "considering" means hasn't yet and might not, and "AL 5" is not the entire country.

Be wary of fact vs. opinion and you'll never have to eat crow. As my mother always said, "Its always better to sit in the back of wedding and be asked to move forward rather than sit up front and be asked to move back."
