|Coward of the Camera

Through no fault of my own, I got home from work at 2330 last night. Suffice it to say that this was due to a combination of miscommunication/non-communication and worst case scenarios playing themselves out. Because of this, my review of G.I. Joe amongst other recent films will be delayed at least two days. I have a town hall meeting tonight night I need to attend and have more important articles that need to be written plus more work.
In preparation for the DC trip coming up next moth, I finally broke down and bought a camera choosing the Nikon S560 as pictured here:

Hopefully I have taken my last picture with the camera in my phone, which, I might add, I could probably count the number of photos taken with the camera phone on my fingers.
I'm already unhappy with this purchase. It takes too much to set the white balance and with the little playing I got to do with the camera I don't think it's going to take pictures as fast as I would like. This camera seems to have one mode, the "Are you retarded?" mode. I've already contemplated gnawing my arm off. The fun part is that I was going to take the camera to the town hall tonight and try to get a few snaps in case there was something to write home about, but I think I'm going to need to get to know this machine better first before I attempt to use it in public.ehowton
said that he wanted to see my posts filled with pictures that I have taken. He also wanted more pictures of me.
ehowton, I don't want any bitching about this
So I've been asked to be a venue manager at Sidewalk this year. I asked if I could manage the Sidetalk venue and moderate the panels, but alas, someone else has claimed that job. Ironically, they are going to be showing film there this year as well and that's what they need me for. But as venue manager is nothing but a glorified slave, I would not be able to see any films nor would I be able to get any screener DVDs, so I guess I'm back to deciding if I want to take off two weekends in a month.
I hope you didn't pay a lot for that camera. My Canon uses a High-Density SD card and snaps back-to-back like a bobcat on booze when in 'Continuous Mode.'
Also, if you can't figure out a P&S, you're head is going to explode trying to figure out a DSLR. That being said dude, I don't think its the camera.
Neither do I. Didn't I just say that perhaps I have a ways to travel on the learning curve?
Didn't I just say that perhaps I have a ways to travel on the learning curve?
You didn't actually. That was in your edit, which I read after my comment was posted. If you like, I can provide copies of the original, as well as the edit for comparison.
And this was after I told you in our IM conversation not to respond yet because I was editing. Words mean shit.
And to think that you actually wrote for a paper. Wow dude. Just wow.
Now that's funny! Because I saw you type that - I read it, but given that we were corresponding about something entirely different on AIM, I actually wondered aloud at my desk, "What the fuck is he talking about."
So yeah, I wrote for a small town paper.
But your lack of context in communication is known far and wide, and I dare say, the inscription on your tombstone when, God forbid, that time comes, will likely read: "He was a dumbass."
No, I think the problem is that in your old age, you can't concurrently process like I can.
Its precisely these assumptions which fuel your notoriety for lack of context. Obviously I wouldn't be able to accomplish what I do were it not for precisely the thing you assume I no longer have.
I do find it odd that the only place you can apply this skill is at your workplace where no one here in the real world can verify. Very Clintonesque.
Yes, dumbass. Clinonesque. What I do is not the real world. Delivering pizza - now that's the real world. Ergo, I'm a liberal.
Who is this pizza delivery guy you keep talking about?
As for price, I'm $250 all in with a year's warranty, two 4GB HD cards, an extra battery and a soft-hard shell carrying case. I was advised by a photographer here to get the faster cards, but when I asked at the store, she said I wouldn't see a difference with this camera. He seemed to think that there would be a nominal difference but gave me good advice: next time I need/want a card, get a faster card and see if there's a difference in speed just like he did when he was starting out.
