Directly from the White House website:

WhiteHouse_Gestapo

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

This Gestapo like tactic pits citizens against citizens in an effort to shut out the growing opposition to the healthcare takeover. This should raise hairs on the back of any liberty-minded American and generate screams of opposition.

Using tax-dollars and union thugs to stump for a bad piece of legislation is bad, but calling on Americans to report their fellow citizens for opposing said legislation exceeds the bounds of anything most of us could even fathom happening in our “free country.”

Please join with us in rising up against this usurpation of all things American, call your legislators, call the Whitehouse (from a disposable phone), and let Obama know that this is NOT acceptable behavior, now matter how much his legacy might ride on accomplishing the takeover.

An Open Letter to the White House:
I know you people are caught up in your beltway-bubble, but step back for a minute, take the silver spoon out of your mouth, and think about how this looks from the outside.

You are asking American citizens to turn in their fellow citizens for voicing opposition to a bill, based on the text of this bill. Obama's rhetoric does not change the text of the bill, and the opposition to this takeover has been far more likely to actually quote the legislation, in full context.

Free speech is fundamental to American liberty. Even if the opposition to this bill had no factual basis for their opposition, this totalitarian "informant" tactic is entirely un-American in every sense. I know that doesn't matter to an administration where the end justifies the means, but it matters to the average American. The more light the text of this legislation sees, the more the opposition grows.

You can put me on the list of subversive "anti-reform" conservatives, and I'll wear the label proudly. Just remember, the WW2 and Cold War generations aren't dead yet, and they remember these tactics as the tactics of the enemy.

Sincerely,
schpydurx

If they succeed in driving opposition underground, it will only make it stronger.

I don't think they can drive us underground. I think the ones who will be driven underground are Barry O and his ilk.

well we still have the second amendment and if barry wants to change that, he will have to content with over 100 million pissed-off and armed americans... i don't think he wants that.

it is never paranoid or premature to make sure that we are prepared for the day the government turns on the populace. the only question is why we have not yet marched on washington dc with our weaponry and promised open revolt if the government would not submit to public will (which it should have been doing since day one).

the government is not our friend, and more importantly, the government has been over-stepping its bounds for over 100 years. it has been robbing us blind and we sat by letting it occur. the tenth amendment to the US Constitution reads: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." THAT MEANS THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DOING ALL THE CRAP IT HAS BEEN. this means no dept of edu, no nsa, no cia, no fbi, no highways, no nothing. if it ain't in the Constitution then they cannot do it.

if the government has been over-stepping in every way on that one, why are we to assume the government won't over-step every other right we have?

I have been asking this question ever since Barry got elected.

the government is not our friend
A-FUCKING-MEN! Now try and convince all the stupid little college kiddies of that.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Barry hasn't read the Constitution and even if he did, he wouldn't know what it meant.

if the government has been over-stepping in every way on that one, why are we to assume the government won't over-step every other right we have?
By looking deep into Barry's warm smile and hypnotic gaze while We The Sheeple say "baaaaaaah."

I would like to point out that B-O was not the president who authorized warrentless wiretaps on American citizens, and then tried to hide it when people started asking questions.

GWB and his "patriot act" non-sense cost the typical American citizen much more of their personal liberty and privacy than anything that BO has proposed.

Not to say that BO isn't doing bad things, but if we're throwing stones, let us throw all the stones at all the appropriate people. The NSA, CIA, and FBI all grew much larger under GWB. My complaint against BO is that he hasn't taken steps to reduce the Fed's abdicated power.

They will continue to over step our rights. They won't stop until we become so fed up and start another Revolutionary war, simple as that.

Now for my direct opinion on this. I honestly am not very surprised to see this out there now. I knew Obama was taking pointers from Hitler. But I have no intention of telling the government if I receive an email from a friend stating there opinion.

Barry is sending agents from the Ministry of Love to your house to arrest you and put you in "prolonged detention" where you will be re-educated and turned into a more productive citizen.
