Maybe "shut out" is the wrong term. "Not good enough for" might be more accurate.
Indiana Jones and the Skullfucking didn't get any nominations at all.
Isn't it obvious? It wasn't good enough for an Oscar either. I wouldn't dream of suggesting that a movie which wasn't good enough was "shut out" just because I liked it.
So let me get this straight, you agree that Indiana Jones and the Skullfucking is a bad film?
I agree that neither TDK nor TKofCS were Oscar worthy. You can continue to try to put words in my mouth, but I've been very clear in my speech.
I thought Tropic Thunder was the best movie of 2008 but I don't think its Oscar material either.
Am I speaking English here?
According to your logic, The Dark Knight is a better film than Indiana Jones and the Skullfucking as it won several Oscar nominations and Skullfucking won none.
No. Your assertion is incorrect, which means the basis of your logic fails and your conclusion is false.
I do not think TDK is a better film, because I put no stock whatsoever in the Academy's opinions.
do you guys always debate like this?
Pretty much. It's how we roll!
That's on a protected post, dumbass!
That is, bar none, the funniest parody of the Joker I have ever seen.
Listen here you ignorant fuck, just because I understand what the Academy appreciates in an Oscar-winning film does not, in anyway sway my appreciation of a film, nor does my understanding in any way align myself with their views.
In other words, in saying that TDK wasn't good enough (which was out of context by the way, automatically invalidating your argument) does NOT mean that I must hold the Oscars in some kind of regard. Once again, your conclusions are based on false assumptions.
Please THINK about what I've said before replying this time.
Now, now. I think we are being a bit too harsh here. The Dark Knight certainly could have been a contender in the Oscars....had there been a category for the most boring movie ever made.
I am quite aware I haven't taken the time to actually watch the film to form such an opinion, but that doesn't matter. I'm just not that into superheroes or super-villains....or anything comic book related.

I wasn't that interested in either Ironman or Constantine either, but both were enjoyable films. Ironman's trailer hooked me. Though I haven't seen Constantine all the way through in one sitting, I have caugh bits and pieces enough times working at the theater as well as at friends' places and have enjoyed what I've seen, even though it's not something that I would not nomrally go see.
Does that mean you will finally watch Harry Potter?
Don't forget boring. Oh wait, nevermind.
This will amuse me for the first couple of rounds so I'll bite: what's your function, man?
