Well, of course I'm referring to myself here. THat's why I asked for the feedback. As I outlined in my current latest post
, I recently went to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens and have 176 images I wish to put somewhere for the public to enjoy, but I don't want that place to be Facebook and I don't have the funds to put those images on flickr at the moment. As such, I was considering putting them on LJ, but I don't think that LJ makes a gallery that you can just link to.
I suppose there's always Photoshop.com.
There's only one photo blog that I follow, but I think the reason for that is that the "author" of the blog constantly posts images they find from all over the internet, but each time they post a set (which each image comes into my RSS feed as a separate post) there is a theme to the images. That person never writes other than to give attribution.
But I think I would have a hard time following a photographer's blog because it would be a bunch of pictures of the same thing. I speak, of course, in generalities, understanding that there the probability exists that there is a photographer's picture blog that I might be willing to follow.
In my case, since my readers are familiar with my writing and that's what they read me for, I'd rather not burden my readers. If anything, I would start another site somewhere for my photography and it would be limited to just images.
Hence, I wanted to get a consensus of my readers before I scared them all away with an unannounced change.
In case it hasn't become clear by now, I feel an affinity with photography and think that it is something that I will engage in a lot in the future. I like the balance you strike–you only put up the most interesting images.
Curious: I know you used to host a Galleries site. Do you still do that? Do you put all your images either there or on flickr?
