NEWS FLASH: HR 3200 makes private health insurance illegal. No new policies, only existing ones.

Right there on page 16 as reported by Investor's Business Daily.

Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1 [the year the legislation becomes law].

But don't take their word for it. Read the bill for yourself. (Warning, the bill is 1018 pages and in .pdf format)

I liked it better when you posted your own work and ideas and not just YouTube videos void of commentary or other's finds.

I guess you're not really an 'activist' after all, and since you dislike that term, I think I've found another which suits you better: Pizza delivery boy.

Think about it - you wait for someone else to express an opinion, then you deliver that opinion to others. Kinda like a pizza delivery boy delivering pizzas. He didn't make the pizza, all he does is pass it along.

Listen here fuckstick: now's not the time for dick measuring. This is about getting the word out to as many people as possible as fast as possible. I'll comment as I can, but there's little to say when you're staring at the actual words of the bill.

Please note, the link to to bill came from thomas.loc.gov-- a Library of Congress project to record the text of all bills, amendments, etc. that passes through Congress. The fact of the matter is if this bill becomes law and you loose your current health insurance, your only option for health insurance is Obamacare. You want commentary? Here's some: Obama lied.

Like the irresponsible spending isn't bad enough? I wanted to like this guy, I did. Seriously, I'm a fairly moderate woman in many ways (or, at least, I'm fiscally conservative, socially liberal, and a liberetarian the rest of the time) and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. But, man, the more the new president does, the more I just shake my head and consider to moving to Costa Rica. It's bad when European leaders are on-record as saying "Dude, that's a little on the socialist side..."

Seriously. Did you see the article in Prada? I'd have to Google to find it, but it was the Russian journalist telling us not to go down the road of socialism. Incredible.

Insane, isn't it? And, you know, if free-market capitalism is wrong, I don't want to be right (says the chick who's never made more than $10 an hour for any job and that's with a couple of college degrees).

At the risk of digressing slightly, do you watch the new Doctor Who at all? There's a character in it whom Obama very much reminds me of...

Is Doctor Who that web thing that was going around last year? I thought it was juvenile and couldn't get into it.

No *shakes head* Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction series in history. It's British, so you may not have heard of it.

Sounds to me like you're thinking of Doctor Horrible. Dougie Hauser (sp?) as a wannabe supervillain who kept randomly breaking into song? That's Doctor Horrible.

As I've constantly told people, "I don't do sci-fi." But then ehowton mocked me for my absolute adoration for Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain.

The name is familiar, but I've never had the urge to investigate. Another oddity about me: I don't like Star Trek have never see any of the Star Wars films and plan to go to my grave with that honor.

Dude, you do not want to get me started on socialized medicine. Seriously. I was an army brat (had to wait almost 6 months for a CT scan when I was 10 after I started suffering migraines and passing out at random intervals) and I was in the Air Force (their version of socialized medicine caused me to flatline twice after I was admitted to the hospital with the stomach flu). I also know that, when Mom got cancer, she'd have been screwed without private insurance.

that's really all I'm going to say on the matter. anecdotal evidence doesn't really count for jack or squat in the wider scheme, but it's enough that I'd have an opinion on the subject even if I'd never botehred to educate myself

There's some scary shit in the bill and the worst part about it is the ass-clowns in Washington aren't even going to read the damn thing before they vote on it.

Hey, if they didn't read a trillion dollar "stimulus" bill, why would they read a bill that only stands to change the entire way we do things in this country (when, i might add, people from nations with socialized medicine come here when they get sick)?

The suits in Washington only care about people who come here when they get sick if said people stay illegally to vote for a particular political party. Welcome to American politics.
