Vandalism on My Own Front Door [Jun. 3rd, 2009|01:09 pm]

[music |Hans Zimmer - Angels & Demons]

Last night I was out of pocket in a super secret location. The location was so secret and so remote that even my staff couldn't get ahold of me. (Technically, that wasn't due to lack of reception as much as it was I wasn't answering my phone.) I wound up spending the night (not intentional) and flew back up the interstate this morning.

Yesterday we reached a high of 97 degrees Fahrenheit six degrees above the predicted 91 degrees. Suffice it to say that both last night and this morning, I was driving with all the windows down including my sunroof.

Since I knew I wouldn't be long, I rolled up my windows when I got back to my humble abode but I left my sunroof open so the car can ventilate. I was inside no more than 20 minutes.

I hopped in the car eager to go into work and be a shining star. Even though last night was cut short due to a late departure time, it was still refreshing, invigorating and inspiring, so much so that I have authored my Angels & Demons review which will be released later today after a bit of clean up, fact checking and name plugging. (Alas, my super secret location was without and Internet connection.)

When I went to get out of my car upon arriving at work, I couldn't leave the seat. Something stringy ands sticky on my lower back was preventing me from doing so. It appeared that one of the little brats that were waiting for me at my front door decided to throw their bubble gum in my car. I was NOT HAPPY about this at all.

whester graciously scraped off the gum that was sticking to my clothes as it was in a region I couldn't reach and really couldn't effectively clean at work. I then went to get the other half of the piece off of the lower back of the driver's seat.

I had several ideas of what to do with these little vandals which I shall not commit to this blog. But that isn't what set me off. It was when I went to get my briefcase from the back seat that I found the second piece of gum. Thankfully, it didn't have anything to really stick to. But this act of vandalism and thievery has.

I think these young criminals ought to have to pay for a new change of clothes, the car to be shampooed, the time wasted at work not being able to do my job as well as the matching taxes and benefits my employer has to pay. And I think they should have a vandalism charge on their criminal record.

I'm considering calling DHS and telling them to come pick up the kids because they are riding their bikes on the four lane in front of the apartment complex while their parents/guardians negligently sit on their ass watching Oprah.

Suffice is the incorrect word to use, for it doesn't explain why your air conditioning was not on instead.

Air conditioning requires more fuel and takes power from the engine. Furthermore, I prefer to drive with the windows down and the wind blowing through my air.

Moreso that the drag created by 60+ mph wind entering your car making it in essence a horizontal parachute? As your wont to say, "Cite your source."

I prefer to drive with the windows down and the wind blowing through my air.
Most of us do, just not...you know, when its 97-degrees outside.

I was traveling at 100mph for a large portion of the journey.

You are aware that 100mph is greater than 60, right? That's what was that little 'cross' indicates directly to the right of the number. In numerical terms, its called a 'plus sign' denoting that you may have been going faster than the speed provided in the example. Regardless, it doesn't answer the question even accidentally. Its ironic that your lack of an answer makes your initial claim appear that you're 'full of hot air' considering the discussion at hand.

Yes, I am aware of what the plus sign means. I left my comment because 100 is a different order of magnitude than 60.

And yet I had zero questions about your speed, except in relationship to it being less expensive than running the air conditioner, which you still have yet to answer.

Am I typing too fast for you?

Let me help: I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS ABOUT HOW FAST YOU WERE GOING. I'm seeking an answer on your claim that driving with the windows down at a rate of speed at or above 60mph is more economical than running your air conditioner.

To reiterate, I'm not making this up, you're the one who said it, and I asked you to backup your claim. Is that clear? Or do you require I ask the questions differently? So far your zero-for-three. Please at least attempt an effort.

Its frustrating for me how you simple questions manage to elude you.

I wonder why you choose to harp on this subject instead of give my sympathy.

Apparently you're unable to articulate why you deserve it.

Gum. Thrown in my car. Sticking to my clothes. Little urchins that must now attone for their sins. Get the picture?

Windows. Open. Allowing little urchins to throw gum in your car. Because you allege it was cheaper than air conditioning.

HELP ME HELP YOU.

So far it sounds less like you need sympathy, and more a lesson in not being dumb.

Why am I dumb for liking the wind blowing in my hair when I drive? Please to explain.

Not all Americans are overweight and require constant cooling to 32 degrees. Besides, if you don't drive with the windows down when it's hot, when do you drive with them down? I suppose the next thing you'll be telling me is that convertibles are abominations.

Q: Please cite your figures which conclude that the drag created by 60+ mph wind entering your car making it in essence a horizontal parachute is more economical than running than A/C?

A: Not all Americans are overweight and require constant cooling to 32 degrees.

Can't I expect that my property not be vandalized when it's stored at my residence? And were I to catch these vandals in the act, would I be allowed to shoot at will?

Yes. Securing your items however are always in your best interest. Best practices suggest, as an example, rolling up your windows and locking your doors.

And were I to catch these vandals in the act, would I be allowed to shoot at will?
In Texas, yes. I cannot speak for Alabama.

That was never *actually* in question. You simply attempted to elude the original question by bringing this up instead. Seeing that we never disagreed on this point to begin with your conclusion is flawed and the original question remains unanswered. Is there anything further you'd like to obfuscate to answer the question for yet-unknown reasons?

People can read you know, you're not *really* fooling anyone with your nonsense.
