[music |Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard - The Dark Knight]

The Dark Knight was shut out of a Best Diretor nod for Chris Nolan at the Oscars this year as well as Best Picture. The late Heath Ledger is got a Best Supporting Actor nod, which he is favored to win. Other categories The Dark Knight was nominated for are as follows:

Best Art Direction
Best Cinematography
Best Editing
Best Makeup
Best Sound
Best Sound Editing
Best Visual Effects

The Dark Knight is coming back to the Opry Mills 20 IMAX theater. I'm trying to get a group to go to the Sunday 1540 show; please check the site (The Dark Knight poster is a link to ticket sales for Sunday and Dark Knight is the top show in the list.) for tickets. Also, if you would like to be part of my group, send me an email, Private Message or what-have-you with your email address and I will send you an invite to my Google Calendar invitation.

For those of you in either LA, NYC or Chicago, there is going to be a special showing of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back to back in the IMAX theaters. Check the IMAX website for details.

Maybe "shut out" is the wrong term. "Not good enough for" might be more accurate.

Indiana Jones and the Skullfucking didn't get any nominations at all.

Discuss.

Isn't it obvious? It wasn't good enough for an Oscar either. I wouldn't dream of suggesting that a movie which wasn't good enough was "shut out" just because I liked it.

So let me get this straight, you agree that Indiana Jones and the Skullfucking is a bad film?

I agree that neither TDK nor TKofCS were Oscar worthy. You can continue to try to put words in my mouth, but I've been very clear in my speech.

I thought Tropic Thunder was the best movie of 2008 but I don't think its Oscar material either.

Am I speaking English here?

According to your logic, The Dark Knight is a better film than Indiana Jones and the Skullfucking as it won several Oscar nominations and Skullfucking won none.

No. Your assertion is incorrect, which means the basis of your logic fails and your conclusion is false.

I do not think TDK is a better film, because I put no stock whatsoever in the Academy's opinions.

"Not good enough for" might be more accurate.

It wasn't good enough for an Oscar either.

You say that Dark Knight wasn't good enough of a film to get a Best Director or Best Picture nomination, and then you say that neither film is Oscar worthy. If they aren't Oscar worthy, that means you must hold the Oscars in some kind of regard, thus negating your statement, I put no stock whatsoever in the Academy's opinions. Please hold a constant position.

Listen here you ignorant fuck, just because I understand what the Academy appreciates in an Oscar-winning film does not, in anyway sway my appreciation of a film, nor does my understanding in any way align myself with their views.

In other words, in saying that TDK wasn't good enough (which was out of context by the way, automatically invalidating your argument) does NOT mean that I must hold the Oscars in some kind of regard. Once again, your conclusions are based on false assumptions.

Please THINK about what I've said before replying this time.

Thank you.

Now, now. I think we are being a bit too harsh here. The Dark Knight certainly could have been a contender in the Oscars....had there been a category for the most boring movie ever made.

I am quite aware I haven't taken the time to actually watch the film to form such an opinion, but that doesn't matter. I'm just not that into superheroes or super-villains....or anything comic book related.

Cute.

I wasn't that interested in either Ironman or Constantine either, but both were enjoyable films. Ironman's trailer hooked me. Though I haven't seen Constantine all the way through in one sitting, I have caugh bits and pieces enough times working at the theater as well as at friends' places and have enjoyed what I've seen, even though it's not something that I would not nomrally go see.
