Bookcase Photo Meme! [May. 3rd, 2014|05:10 pm]

I'm starting a new meme: post a picture (or pictures) of your bookcase so others can clearly see what you have you your shelf and invite people to ask you why you chose to add that book to your collection.

Almost without exception, all the books pictured here are to be read.

When I saw your link to my blog, I was highly confused. Is that still how your bookcase looks after all these years?

I was just thinking about you and books the other day.

Specifically, I remembered sending you a copy of both The Twilight of Courage and A Small Death in Lisbon to give to celtmanx. But you kept A Small Death in Lisbon and claimed that you carried it around in your back pack.

I know I bugged you about it (what must have felt incessantly for a time) but I haven't inquired after that book in years. Did you finally read it? If so, did you like it?

I've already posted pics of my bookcases and while I did do a clean out, I've picked up a few newbies. Essentially it's the same though.

My question is... why are your books soooo boringly non-fiction?

But that was years ago. How can your bookcase fundamentally be the same if you've removed books and added books? That's like saying a kid is essentially the same as its parents since it has some bits of the parents and some bits of its own self.

Personally, I think you have some books on your shelf you're ashamed of (Story of O? Fifty Shades of Grey?)

Fine, I added every single Elizabeth Peters book she ever wrote to my shelf and deducted some vampire fiction that was quite lame. Otherwise it remains miraculously similar. Most of my new books end up in piles on the floor or my bedside table these days.

And in an act of daring rarely seen before in bookshelf disclosure, I showed all the books I was ashamed of when I took those photos years ago. I've never read Story of O and I read Fifty Shades on free epub bud download - I wasn't paying for that crap.

free epub bud download
This turn of phrase make no sense.

free epub bud download
I thought you weren't into ebooks at all. What happened? What kind of device did you read these epubs on?

I prefer proper books but if I suspect something will be crap and I'd resent paying for it, I have very little qualms about looking for a free download. If I've liked the book after ebooking it I generally buy it anyway.

I just read it on my laptop through Adobe Digital Editions. I'm old school ebook-wise.

You're just like a woman: stuck up because you think "I wouldn't deign to debase myself to his level. He's not even my type."

Give love a chance!

Oddly enough, I've read very few books on a laptop, mostly because I eschewed pdfs and when the "new" formats became popular, I had the hardware to consume such files on so-called "mobile" devices.

What do you mean, boringly non-fiction? Biographies and history are profitable to direct. And there is a lone fiction book on the shelf. See if you can spot it.

The Count of Monte Cristo - not Dumas's best work, but still pretty good.

Blehk, they all look sleep inducing. I'm more surprised than ever to discover you have insomnia issues with a bookshelf like that!

And here I thought you were supposed to have armed yourself with knowledge to train the eager young minds of tomorrow.

Question: if you like fiction so much, have you made your class read Dreams of My Father?

I'm just saying that if you like fiction, that book should have been at the top of your list.

Someone is bored. lol All of my books are currently packed away up in the attic because of our current situation so I cant photograph my own. If I get tagged, you'll get a photo of one of moms... which is impossible to see what all is there as the books are stacked in front of that which is sitting on the shelves in the proper positions.
